1. I'm changing out a competitors alternator for a K.E.I.  My question is, which K.E.I. alternator to get. (from Dan in Georgia)

ANSWER: Check our Cross-Reference Guide for recommendations, then call our Sales and     customer support Dept.

2. Do you have a Manual for converting an oil-cooled alternator to air-cooled.

ANSWER: Check out the Manual.

4. Does K.E.I. have alternators for the Marine Industry. (Mark in California)

ANSWER: Not yet, but maybe in the near future. When we do, you'll find them here.

5. Is this Doug from Lestek, who built the "Brute 270" alternators.( From across the U.S.A.)

ANSWER: Yes, and I was also with Poweralt and PennTex before joining K.E.I.     Clarification on "built", there are not enough bandages for me to build alternators, I'm not talented (mechanically) enough. I just sell and support them.

8. Do I need to upgrade my wiring cable from the positive post of the alternator to the batteries. (Probably the most asked question, or one that is not asked enough!)

ANSWER: Yes, and the Ground wire should be upgraded to the same size too. (Wiring Chart)

10. How do I determine how fast my alternator is spinning?

Answer: View the K.E.I. Pulley Ratio Chart.

 

11. How many diodes are in your KJ Series alternators? (Ron in Wisconsin)

Answer: 24 (12 Positive 50amp and 12 Negative 50amp)

12. I'm having a problem putting my Gound Cable on the Positive Post of my new alternator.

Answer: in 17+ years of being in this business, I've heard this way to many times.

13. I have a battery bank with an isolator, where do I put the Remote Sense wire?

Answer: I want the Sense wire always reading TRUE battery voltage. I also prefer that the Sense wire be located on the battery  that starts the vehicle. If the isolator is working properly both battery banks should remain within 2/10ths of a volt of each other.                              Check our Installation Page for diagrams or call Tech Support (1.512.793.2704)

14. Whats a "Stealth" WD?

Answer: A distributor that wants anonymity!

15. Who are your Stealth WD's?

Answer: You can't make me tell you, see 14. above!

16. How can  you determine which connection pin I have for my GM-Chev Alternator

Answer: Look at the 3 Page Sales Definition Support File

17. What belt "might" be needed when swapping out a CE Niehoff  A1-608 alternator with your wide stator KJ and KP Series alternators.

Answer: A shorter belt might be required, Rob @ Dayton Quality Starter did this in Ohio, by using a Gates # K100554 , which is a 56 inch, 10 groove belt.
